Chirco
is building a Baja Bug! Many of the air - cooled VW
parts and procedures used can also be used on Dune Buggies,
Sand Rails. These pages feature links to the Chirco
online parts catalog.
This
was going to be Donnie's Birthday day present,
but he has done so well in school and Dad is
getting anxious to get the project moving along.
So we mounted up so Centerline wheels.
I really wanted to put
good tires and wheels on this car. Centerline
has had a great reputation for off-road wheels
for a long time. There wheels are very strong
and very light. I think they also look very cool
also. We started with the front Centerline
wheels.
For
tires we have chosen a very aggressive tread 7.00x15.
Tucson has a lot of desert that this tire will
work well on. These wheels do not come with
a valve
stem, so we put some on.
Jackson mounted up the front and rear
wheels and tires. We
are not sure about the exact tire we are going
to run on the rear yet. So we mounted up some
31's that we had lying around.
Now these look like Baja
Bug Tires. The fronts are 15x3.5 standard offset.
We used a minimum offset
15x7 rear Centerline. With stock rear arms, it
sure made the tires stick out nice. Very close
to the front width.
What a difference!
From a couple a views.
A couple more.
We also put some black roll bar padding around
the roll bar in the front half. There is even
a rear
view mirror mounted to the top cross bar.
I wanted to say thanks to all of the nice note
that have come across e-mail and by phone. As
always, if I can be of any help just let me know.
Thanks
Don
