Installing our carpet kit will be a little challenging because of all the tubing we have welded in, we will just have to work around it. We have chosen a salt & pepper carpet kit that should match the seats and headliner. First, all of the pieces of the carpet kit are laid out in the sun to get any wrinkles out. The we started with the drivers side kick panel. Each piece will be glued in to place. You can see we left the heating vent covered since we have already blocked off the channels.

Next, the drivers side door channel piece was placed inside the carpet channel. A large flat head screw driver was used to bend up the metal strip, once the carpet was in we used a rubber mallet to bend it back over the carpet. The same thing was done on the passenger side.

You can see we have had to cut the carpet kit to go around the roll bar. The glue that Jackson uses works best when you let it dry a little first. 

Now we need to install the front floor part of the carpet kit. This piece actually fit in very well after we got it centered.

We had to cut the rear floor piece much more so that it would go over the tunnel where seat belt tabs are welded in. The last piece to go into place was the passenger foot rest.

What a difference! 

We decided to install a basic 4 piece black door panel kit. Starting with the two rear quarter panels we installed some insulation that will go in behind the panels to deaden some of the sound.

The door panel kit does not come with new door panel clips. Our old ones were junk and a lot were missing. So we put new ones for the door panels. These clips can be a pain in the neck to get in. Also we needed to punch out the holes for the door handles.

Once the panels were pressed into place, we started on the door handle and the window crank. I forgot to get pictures of the small pin that holds on the handles. The trick to getting the handles on, is to push the door handle buffer and the panel against the door far enough back so you can press the pin through the handle. Once the pin is in, the buffer will sit flush with the handle. Sounds easy.

We now have a carpet kit and door panels.

Next we will be building a box to over the battery compartment that will be carpeted.
