Chirco
is building a Baja Bug! Many of the air - cooled VW
parts and procedures used can also be used on Dune Buggies,
Sand Rails. These pages feature links to the Chirco
online parts catalog.
Jackson
warmed up his paint gun and is ready to work his magic.
He loves to paint cars.
We finally
have the body as straight as we are going to
get it. There are still some dings and dents,
but nothing major. Donnie I'm sure will add
some more to it when he learns how to drive.
We have the whole outside sanded down to 600
grit sand paper. The inside was much easier
since most of the metal will be covered up with
carpet or the headliner material. So most of
the paint will be just for a clean smooth surface
for the glue to stick to. The roll bars will
be covered with padding.
Jackson
chose white as the color and did his special mix
starting with a Chevy white. Of course he had already
used a sandable primer.
He
started with the inside of the car and cussed at
the roll bar that was giving him problem. I was
really shocked when he was done because the white
made the interior look larger.
Then
Jackson worked his magic on the outside of the car.
Each of the coats keep coming out better than the
last one.
After three coats we had the look
we were going for. I would post my quote that
I said when I saw the final coat but I'm sure
kids visit project Baja.
We
will post more photo's once we put it in the sun
and we can really see the finish. What a difference,
Jackson, "You are the Man!" Thanks a million,
I will have to have a big barbeque in his honor.
One more major project done! More Soon.
